Woodbourn Murray Grey Sale report

When the first car drove in at 8.30am for an 11.30 sale, the principals of the Woodbourn Murray Grey stud were aware that something special was about to happen.. The cars kept rolling in to be the largest gathering of Murray Grey people from around Australia, that had ever arrived at Woodbourn.

When asked why Woodbourn Murray Greys are demanding such interest, Charles Wallace said that his new genetics, his guarantees, the extensive health assurances and most importantly, his back up to his sale team were of the highest priority to people. Charles said that he and Janet were thrilled that the cattle sold so well, with the highest bull average for all breeds in Tasmania this year, $4595, and with complete clearance. This, despite Angus being the most prominent breed by far. "To see so many cattle selling to every state, and to New Zealand and so many return buyers from Tasmania, is a great thrill," Charles said. "We must be doing something right especially following on from a very successful Angus bull sale in April which had a very good average and total clearance."

Overall from the twenty nine bulls and thirty one females offered at Woodbourn this year, eight bulls and ten females went to the mainland, eleven animals to King Island and the remainder throughout Tasmania.
