Woodbourn Angus, Cressy Tasmania.
A new Generation of Genetics.
We, at Woodbourn, invite you to come and see our cattle. We have taken our herd to a new level and would love to show them to you. We have no doubt that what you see will impress you, as it has many others.
The quote below is a good one and one which matches our principles. Woodbourn follows strict breeding criteria to ensure it can offer the commercial breeder, bulls which match their breeding program and market requirements and which will improve their bottom line.
A quote from Mr Wally Sharratt, when President of the South African Angus Society. “The role of the purebred breeder is to produce seedstock with predictable performance, which will contribute to the profitability of commercial herds, be they straightbreeding or crossbreeding, intensive or extensive.
Just as no single set of recommendations is best for every producer, no single sire will fit the bill for every production or market system. The purpose of performance recording by the Angus breeder is to measure differences among like treated individuals through the important phases of growth and development that are relevant commercially and to use these measured and observed differences to obtain estimates of the genetic differences between animals.
By identifying individuals that are superior for growth in these important stages and which are fertile and structurally sound, the breeder provides seedstock that will reward the commercial breeder with improved profits.”
